From the Family Vineyard to the Birth of BiAmar

The story of BiAmar began long before the first bottle. It began with a family vineyard, a connection between generations and the desire to preserve a heritage that might otherwise have been lost over time.

The Roots — My Father’s Vineyard

For many years, my father cared for an old Loureiro vineyard in Brandara, Ponte de Lima, in the heart of the Minho. Among the vines, part of our family’s history was built — a story shaped by hard work, dedication, memories and a deep connection to the land.

As he grew older, the time came when my father was no longer able to continue caring for the vineyard. That was when I took on the responsibility.

More than continuing an agricultural tradition, I felt that I was receiving a legacy. Preserving that vineyard meant keeping a part of our family’s history alive.

The Challenge of Giving the Vineyard a New Life

When I took over the vineyard, a natural question arose: how could I preserve its essence while creating something new from it?

The answer began to take shape through Loureiro itself.

Rather than simply following the traditional path, I wanted to explore a different expression of this grape variety, so deeply connected to the Lima Valley. The idea was to create a drink with its own identity, respecting the origin of the grapes while offering a new and contemporary interpretation.

It was at this moment that the BiAmar concept began to emerge.

A Family Idea

The project also took on a deeply personal dimension.

The name BiAmar comes from the names of my daughters, Beatriz — Bia — and Maria. The name therefore came to represent not only a product, but also two of the greatest inspirations in my life.

BiAmar became an expression of a connection between generations: my father, who cared for the vineyard; myself, who took on his legacy and sought to give it new life; and my daughters, whose names are at the heart of the brand itself.

The Birth of the Concept

From this family story, the idea began to develop of creating a fortified wine made from Loureiro.

The objective was clear: to preserve the identity of the grape variety, value the family vineyard and create something different, with a personality of its own.

BiAmar was therefore born from the meeting of tradition and innovation. The vineyard represents the past. The project represents the present. And the continuity of the brand represents the future.

Creating BiAmar

Turning the idea into reality required moving from inspiration to experimentation.

It was necessary to study the raw material, better understand the behaviour of the grape variety, define the desired profile and find the balance between Loureiro’s aromatic expression and the concentration and sweetness characteristic of a fortified wine.

The process was also one of continuous learning, shaped by decisions, trials, adjustments and refinement.

Every stage was guided by one fundamental principle: the final product should remain connected to the vineyard where it all began.

From the Vineyard to the First Bottle

Once the concept had been developed and the wine profile defined, the time came to turn the project into a bottled reality.

The first production represented more than the launch of a new wine. It was the realisation of a family story that had begun many years earlier, when my father cared for that vineyard.

Each bottle came to carry a part of that story: the land of Brandara, the Loureiro grape, the work of the family and the desire to create something different.

The Birth of the BiAmar Brand

Once the product had been defined, the BiAmar brand was formally born.

The name, inspired by Beatriz and Maria, came to identify a project that seeks to bring together family, territory and wine.

The brand is built around a simple idea: a wine can be more than what is inside the bottle. It can carry an origin, a memory and a story.

In the case of BiAmar, that story begins with a family vineyard and continues through a new generation.

Establishing BiAmar

As the project entered the market, it began to gain visibility and reach new audiences.

BiAmar began to appear at events, fairs and initiatives connected with wine and regional products, providing an opportunity to present a different interpretation of Loureiro.

The brand’s communication also increasingly highlighted its origins: Brandara, Ponte de Lima, the Lima Valley and the winemaking heritage of the Minho.

Recognition

The story of BiAmar subsequently began to attract the attention of the media and organisations connected with the region.

Reports, interviews and coverage in specialist media helped introduce the project, the family vineyard and the concept of Loureiro fortified wine to a wider audience.

One of these highlights was the report by Altominho.TV, which followed the project and presented its story, the vineyard and the concept behind BiAmar.

Its presence at different events and in the media also helped strengthen the brand’s identity and bring it closer to consumers, professionals and partners.

A Project in Evolution

BiAmar continues to be a project in development.

The evolution of the brand involves the continuous improvement of the wine, enhancing its presentation, developing new ways of tasting and pairing it with food, and creating experiences around the product.

The focus on digital channels and online commerce has also allowed the story of BiAmar to reach beyond the region where it was born, bringing the brand closer to consumers in Portugal and other markets.

A Story That Continues

Today, BiAmar represents much more than the creation of a fortified wine.

It is the continuation of a family story that began with an old Loureiro vineyard. It is the way I found to preserve the legacy I received from my father and transform it into a project with its own identity.

It is also a tribute to my daughters, Beatriz and Maria, whose names gave rise to the brand.

Above all, it is a bridge between past, present and future.

The past lies in the vineyard and in the memory of those who cared for it. The present lies in the work of transforming that heritage into a wine with its own identity. The future lies in the possibility of this story continuing through the generations to come.

This connection is what gave birth to BiAmar: the land, the family, the memory and the desire to create something new without ever forgetting where it all began.
